Professor Shi Luping Showed Premier Li Keqiang the Scientific and Technological Achievements of the Centre for Brain-Inspired Computing Research

On the morning of April 15th, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, inspected Tsinghua University. Accompanied by Academician Qiu Yong, president of Tsinghua University, and Professor Chen Xu, Tsinghua University Council Chairperson, Premier Li visited the History Museum of Tsinghua University, the exhibition of scientific and technological achievements, the architecture building, the medicine building and the library.

An expert in brain science, Professor Shi Luping highlighted the unmanned bicycle from among all the typical scientific and technological research projects. The Center for Brain-Inspired Computing Research (CBICR) at Tsinghua University successfully developed the unmanned bicycle system based on the Board level system of the Tianjic Chip V1, fulfilling the complicated functions of target detection and recognition, balance control, target tracking and autonomous decision making to avoid barriers. It was the first small platform of brain demonstration based on a brain-inspired chip. So far, the CBICR at Tsinghua University has undergone three years of research and has become the first unit to explore the whole process of modeling → simulation → verification → testing → application demo in the field of Neuromorphic chips and the first unit to possess the complete tool chain for hardware and software platforms in the field of brain-inspired computing.
