Recently, People’s Daily has reported on the ICCBC 2018 hosted by the Center for Brain-Inspired Computing Research (CBICR) at Tsinghua University. The excerpts from the report are as follows:
(By ZHAO E'NUO | People’s Daily | Updated: 2018-10-14) On October 13th and 14th, the finals of ICCBC 2018 were held at Tsinghua University. The ICCBC 2018 attracted almost 300 teams from 84 countries registered at regular universities and research institutes both in China and abroad. The entries covered topics including hardware, algorithms, software, applications, etc. The entry entitled Continuous Learning of Context-dependent Processing in Neural Networks from the Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the grand prize.
According to Professor Shi Luping, director of the Centre for Brain-Inspired Computing Research at Tsinghua University, although AI can solve subproblems in specialized domains where data are abundant, complex dynamic problems with uncertain or incomplete information associated with many systems remain difficult to solve. AGI is one of the best solutions, since the brain-inspired computing, the integration of brain science and information science, is effective for the development of AGI.
